Infrastructure Engineer - Linux

At OpsWerks we're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with specialty on Linux to join our team.

Full-time · Cebu

Your Role

  • Identify, troubleshoot, resolve and escalate incidents quickly and effectively.

  • Be responsible for the operational monitoring of the platform health.

  • Be responsible for the platform end-users’ problems.

  • Develop tools, operational enhancements and automated solutions.

  • Perform root cause analysis. Identify and resolve underlying problem patterns, while driving to develop automated and self-healing solutions.

  • Participate in outage conference calls.
    Write clear and consumable documentation of the environment and operational procedures.

  • Be a member of a 24 x7 shifting rotation.

Your Qualifications

  • Strong sense of ownership, customer service, and integrity demonstrated through excellent written/verbal communication.

  • Ability to work through complex engineering obstacles using debugging and problem-solving skills.

  • Deep working knowledge of Linux operating system, knowing the ins and outs of disk / file system / process / resource / user / package / service management.

  • Experience in finding and troubleshooting faulty server hardware using OS native tools.

  • Working ops experience with containerized systems and cluster management technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • A passion for eliminating repetitive manual processes using automation.

  • Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.

  • Understanding of standard network protocols and components such as: HTTP, TSL/SSL, DNS, ECMP, TCP/IP, ICMP, the OSI model, subnetting and load balancing strategies.

  • Has experience in logging, telemetry, and monitoring tool implementations like Splunk or Prometheus.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education.

Plus Points

  • RedHat Certified System Administrator

  • Understanding of Linux kernel space, memory process, threads, static and shared libraries, interprocess communication, and signals.

  • Experience handling large numbers of diverse systems with configuration management systems like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt.

  • Experience in working and interfacing with APIs and serialized formatting like JSON and YAML is a plus.
